CF — Cost and Freight
The cost of the goods and the freight are billed to you as one arrangement. The cargo travels without insurance cover.
What this term covers
Under CF you pay for both the goods and the carriage to the destination port, and we organise both. It removes the gap that catches importers out under FOB, where a good price on the goods is undone by a freight rate booked late.
The one thing CF does not include is insurance. If the cargo is lost or damaged in transit, the carrier's liability is limited by convention and is usually a fraction of what the goods are worth. If you want that risk covered, take CIF instead, or arrange your own policy before the vessel sails.
